Privacy policy

If you write to me using the contact form, the details you provide — name, email address, your subject and your message — are sent to me by email and stored by me. Processing takes place on the basis of your consent under Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR and in order to handle pre-contractual enquiries under Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR.

The message is sent via an email account with the same provider that hosts the website. No further service provider is involved.

After sending, you automatically receive a confirmation of receipt at the email address you provided.

To protect against automated submissions, the form checks a field invisible to humans, the time taken before sending and obvious advertising patterns in the text. In addition, a check value is derived from your IP address and kept for only a few seconds to slow down repeated submissions; the address itself is not stored.

Your details remain with me until you ask for them to be deleted or the purpose for storing them no longer applies. Mandatory statutory retention periods remain unaffected.

I use Matomo to measure reach. The software runs on the same web space as this website, not at an analytics provider. No data is transferred to third parties or to a third country.

What is recorded: the page called up, the date and time of the visit, the page visited before, the browser used including screen size, and the approximate region of origin. Your IP address is shortened before it is stored — it is therefore not possible to draw conclusions about you personally. The raw measurement data is deleted automatically after six months; only aggregated statistics without any personal reference are kept.

The measurement works without cookies and stores nothing on your device. The legal basis is my legitimate interest under Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR in seeing which content is in demand and where the site is not working. Your interests do not override this, because the data is anonymised and cannot be linked across visits.

If you have switched on “Do Not Track” in your browser, nothing is counted in the first place. Independently of that, you can object to the measurement at any time under Art. 21 GDPR — here, with one click: Your objection is stored as a marker in your browser’s local storage — no cookie, no transmission — so that it also applies to later visits.

You have the right at any time to obtain information free of charge about your stored personal data, its origin, its recipients and the purpose of processing, and where applicable a right to have this data corrected, restricted or deleted.

You have the right to have data that I process automatically on the basis of your consent or in performance of a contract handed over to you or to a third party. It will be provided in a machine-readable format.

You can withdraw consent you have given at any time, without any particular form. The lawfulness of processing carried out up to the withdrawal remains unaffected.

In the event of a breach of data protection law, you have a right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority. The competent authority is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia, Kavalleriestraße 2–4, 40213 Düsseldorf, Germany.
