A gynaecology practice on the bank of the Saar — with a tone that is unusual for the field.
Thomas Ngango’s practice is in the heart of Saarbrücken, right on the river Saar. The range of services runs from general gynaecology through pregnancy care and ultrasound diagnostics to a certified incontinence counselling centre.
While reading the practice texts I noticed something that I picked up in the design: the practice allows itself warmth and even humour. About the incontinence counselling it says they do not want to drain the Saar, but to make sure their patients feel more comfortable. And on contraception it says explicitly that it does not always have to be the pill — natural remedies are not neglected.
Sentences like that do not survive a sterile medical layout. So the site was kept friendlier than is usual for a doctor’s practice, without losing its dependability. The colour world came from the logo, which is also mine: a cool blue for what is medical, a warm rosé as a counterweight.
Concept, design and build are mine, plus the logo as its own project. The site has been running without interruption since then and I continue to look after it.

Typeface
Bitter for the headings, Open Sans for the text, Arizonia as a script in the quotations. Bitter is a slab serif — it gives the page a hold without turning hard.
